Majandus- ja taristuminister Taavi Aas allkirjastas 17. mail korralduse, millega ei tohi Eestist alates 18. maist avada lennufirmad Eestist lennuliine kõrge koroona haigestumisriskiga riikidesse.

„Viiruse leviku pidurdamiseks saame esmalt avada lennuliinid riikidega, kus viiruse levik on viimase 14 päeva statistika põhjal piisavalt väike. Edasi juba saame järk-järgult ühendusi taastama hakata,” sõnas Aas. “Samas peame Eestile majanduslikult oluliste sõlmpunktidega ühendused säilitama, et meie inimesed saaksid hädavajalikud lennud ette võtta, seetõttu oleme loonud ka erandeid,” lisas Aas.

MKM lähtub sihtriikide lubamisel ja keelamisel teiste riikide haigestumise määrast, mis peab liini avamiseks olema 25 või vähem inimest 100 000 elaniku kohta viimase 14 päeva jooksul. Sihtriikide epidemioloogilise olukorra vaatab MKM koostöös Terviseametiga üle iga reede pärastlõunal ning avab või piirab lennuliinide avamist vastavalt viiruse levikule.

Valitsus otsustas 28. augusti kabinetinõupidamisel luua erandid Varssavile, Kopenhaagenile, Frankfurtile, Riiale, Helsingile ja Londonile. Nende sihtkohtadega võib Eestist lennuliine avada, olenemata vastavas riigi viimase 14 päeva haigestumise määrast.

Ühtlasi sõltub liinide avamine ka sihtriigi enda reeglitest. Nagu ka Eestis, kehtib teistes riikides riiki sisenemisel piirangud, millega tuleks enda reisi planeerimisel arvestada.

Piirang hakkas kehtima 18. maist ning käskkirja järgi kehtib selle aasta lõpuni. „Me jälgime olukorda ning kui on vähegi võimalik see piirang varem lõpetada, siis seda me kindlasti ka teeme,“ täpsustas Aas. Piirangu edasist vajalikkust hindab valitsus jooksvalt, lähtudes epidemioloogilisest olukorrast.

On 17 May, Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure Taavi Aas signed an order not to open airlines between Estonia and countries with a high-risk number of daily new cases of coronavirus, from 18 May.

“To slow down the spread of the virus, we can first open routes with countries where the spread of the virus is small enough based on the statistics of the last 14 days. In the future, we can gradually start restoring connections,” added Aas. „At the same time, we need to maintain connections with hubs important to Estonia, so that our people can have the possibility of undertaking trips, which can’t be postponed, hence the exceptions,“ explained Aas.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications bases the admission and prohibition of destination countries on the morbidity rate of other countries, which must be 25 or fewer people per 100,000 inhabitants during the last 14 days to open the route. The Ministry reviews the epidemiological situation in the countries of destination every Friday afternoon and opens or restricts the opening of routes according to the spread of the virus.

On 28 August, the government decided to create exceptions in the restriction to Warsaw, Frankfurt, Riga, Helsinki, Copenhagen and London. Between these destinations, direct air routes can be opened, regardless of the daily new cases in the respective country.

At the same time, the opening of routes also depends on the rules of the destination country itself. As in Estonia, there are restrictions on entering the country in other countries, which should be taken into account when planning your trip.

The Government decided to enforce the restriction from the 18 May. „We will monitor the situation and if we see a possibility to lift the restriction, we will not hesitate to do so,“ explained Aas.
